Bad Dreams is an illustrated fantasy adventure by Gary Winnick, an independent comic book writer, illustrator, and game designer best known for co-designing Maniac Mansion. After releasing the five-part Bad Dreams serial digitally through iBooks and Amazon earlier this year, he now plans to offer a printed collection with bonus content. To that end, Gary has launched a $15k Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the book's production: www.kickstarter.com/projects/badreams/1015284117

"With crowdfunding, I can finally bring my creative vision directly to an audience of like-minded individuals who love the same things I do, without jumping through the publishing hoops I've dealt with my entire professional career," says Gary, who turned 59 last week. "Bad Dreams truly resonates from my creative core -- that's why I've spent all these nights and weekends on it. I think it's my best work and I would love to see it on the printed page. I hope the audience agrees."

About Bad Dreams

Bad Dreams -- a somewhat twisted tale of whimsy -- chronicles the adventures of an odd group of Dreamworld characters: Mary, Nimrod, Sir Spanks (a Night Mouse Knight), Spide, and Shroom. Mary wakes to discover both her memory and Night have gone missing from the land. Mother Night's absence is causing havoc as everyone slowly goes insane from lack of sleep. The friends must pool their resources, working together to uncover the strange secret of their past and exactly who's behind it all.

About Gary Winnick

Gary Winnick joined Lucasfilm Games in 1982 as the division's sixth employee and its first artist. He co-designed Maniac Mansion (the first ever point-and-click adventure game) with Ron Gilbert and served as Art Director for most of the company's first decade. He also created Defenders of Dynatron City, a comedic superhero adventure game, which aired as an animated special on Fox and was published as a limited comic book series by Marvel Comics. His later work includes the formation of Lightsource Studios with Frank Cirocco, and co-founding Suddenly Social with LucasArts alumni Chip Morningstar, Randy Farmer, and Noah Falstein.

About the Bad Dreams Campaign

The goal of this campaign is to raise the funds to publish the collected Bad Dreams series in a high quality, limited collectors volume (softcover and hardcover editions). As the publishing world evolves into the digital age, the luxury of printed books -- especially signed, limited editions -- approaches the collection of fine art. Gary hopes to explore both ends of this spectrum, developing quality printed as well as interactive online editions designed to compliment one another.
